More than 400 people request surgeries at no cost in Maxcanú

Maxcanu, Yucatan; March 29, 2023 (ACOM).- More than 400 people requested to be treated for problems and affectations due to cleft lip, cleft palate, among others.

The IMSS-Bienestar de Maxcanú hospital is the headquarters of the more than 400 requests from candidate patients for the operation that will be carried out during the week and until Saturday.

The director of the Maxcanú hospital, Adriana Pool Tamayo, said that the day is carried out in conjunction with the ordinary regime and a group of 30 doctors and nurses who come from Mexico City, Guadalajara, Torreón and also from Yucatán. In the same way, IMSS personnel from the Acanceh, Izamal and Oxkutzcab clinics intervene.

The beneficiaries are people who do not have financial resources to access medical care and who have cleft lip, cleft palate, cysts, tumors, burn sequelae, fractures, orthopedic trauma, ear reconstruction, among others.
This IMSS Well-being program is completely free, with the support of the three levels of government.

An average of 25 people per day are expected to be operated on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday until Saturday at the Maxcanú hospital, the doctor emphasized.

“It really is a great economic saving, because many people due to lack of resources do not carry out their operation that ranges from 15 to 90 thousand pesos,” he said.

Gabriela Sánchez, Marisol Dzib and Romina Canto, from the municipality of Dzilam González, said that since three in the morning they left their municipality, taking four patients to be treated.
