March 19.-This weekend the attendance of children and young people, accompanied by their families, is expected to be higher.
More than 200 schools attended guided tours and 44 workshops organized especially for them during seven days at the Yucatán International Reading Fair (FILEY) 2023, said the director of this literary event in the state, María Teresa Mezquita.
She pointed out that although the cycle of school visits ended yesterday, it is expected that this weekend the attendance of children and young people, accompanied by their families, will multiply.
He said that this effort was made in conjunction with the Secretary of Education of the Government of the State of Yucatan (SEGEY), who organized the visits and determined which schools would attend, giving priority to the most remote ones, who were supported with transportation.
“We also had the visit of many private schools that included an uplifting tour of Filey as part of their school activities,” he said.
María Teresa Mézquita stated at the moment that there were still two more days left for this literary event (today and tomorrow), considered the most important in the southeast of the country, which has more than 100 modules to visit and where more than half of the 650 activities planned have been developed.
The official commented that there are more than 200 workshops scheduled until the end of the fair and that during the mornings an average of 10 to 15 workshops were held and up to 25 to 30 during the day.
