Mexico registers 2.3 million domestic workers (International Labor Association)

MEXICO CITY, March 30, 2023.- In July 2020, Mexico ratified Convention 189 of the International Labor Organization (ILO) to adopt measures to ensure the promotion and protection of the human rights of domestic workers.

And now, in our country, 2.3 million people are engaged in this activity, 95.1 percent of them are women; the fixed minimum wage for domestic workers is 312.41 pesos for the free zone of the northern border and 225.50 for the rest of the country.

As of February of this year, the number of domestic workers affiliated with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) is 56,092.
