After the message from the presiding minister of the Court, Norma Piña, to the judges about acting in a responsible and independent manner, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that the recommendation to judges has to be to respect the Constitution, “but in an authentic manner, not in the Porfirian style“. (referring to Porfirio Diaz the last Mexican dictator who ruled during the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th Centruies)
“The recommendation to judges is that they act in honesty, that they impart justice, and although most lawyers do not agree with me, I maintain that when you have to choose between law and justice you have to decide for justice, that is why it is called the Supreme Court of Justice, it is not called the Supreme Court of Law, but this is also a matter that is very internalized in the behavior of judges and other authorities of the Judicial Power and is used as an excuse to try to justify acts of corruption such as freeing alleged criminals, such as unfreezing accounts as happened in the case of García Luna’s wife”, he said.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador criticized the proposal of US legislators to classify Mexican cartels as terrorists and thus mobilize the armed forces of that country to fight them, assuring that it is only propaganda and an excuse to invade.
“It is not even accept that they certify us, that they say there is or there is not terrorism in a country, who gives them that power? But well, that is a matter, a mania, to consider themselves the government of the world and to qualify, you behave well, you behave badly if you alienate if you pay attention if you submit, your little dove if you want to feel independent, sovereign, cross it out, but well, they will get rid of that bad habit.”
“But it is even worse when they want to use military force to intervene in the public life of another country, that is, to invade another country with the excuse that they are going after terrorist drug traffickers, of course, it is pure propaganda, however, we have to reject all these pretensions of interventionism. Mexico is an independent, sovereign country”, he pointed out.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador called on citizens to go to Mexico City’s Zócalo next Saturday, March 18 at 5:00 p.m. to commemorate the Oil Expropriation.
“These are stellar moments in Mexico’s history that we must remember because they are also lessons, they are teachings (…), everyone who is in favor of change, of transformation and against corruption, classism, racism, is welcome. No foreign guest is coming, the guests are Mexicans”, he said.
Mayan Train, absolutely responsible with the environment: Fonatur
The director of Fonatur, Javier May Rodríguez, assured that the Mayan Train is “absolutely responsible” with the environment, since 44 percent of the track is electrified and low-sulfur diesel will be used, which, he said, will reduce pollution.
“The Mayan Train and the environment in the Mexican southeast are going to improve significantly,” he said, noting that as part of the project, the “largest” reforestation program is being carried out with 500 million trees, in addition to the fact that cenotes, caverns and subway rivers will be protected with the construction of viaducts and cable-stayed bridges.
