During the signing of an agreement with the judiciary to create a greater gender perspective, state governor Mauricio Vila announced that his administration will present an initiative to Congress.
This initiative, if approved by Congress, will establish that people accused of gender violence will not be able to have parental authority over their children (if they have them).
Mainly those accused of femicide, because even though the mother would have died, the responsibility for the children would not pass to the accused.
The law was previously approved in the Mexican state of Puebla and is expected to be approved in the next few weeks in Yucatán as well.
