Collision leaves 10 people injured in Progreso

At the end of Sunday at the beach, an entire family on board a Nissan pickup truck ended up in an accident, and a minor had to be taken to the hospital as an emergency.

Everything happened around five o’clock in the afternoon when the driver of this vehicle was distracted and ended up crashing into the right side of the low speed road, causing the vehicle to overturn on the asphalt.

At least 15 people were traveling in the vehicle, ten of whom were transported to hospitals in SSP ambulances, among them the driver who, while being taken to one of the units, was lamenting what had happened, as they were all his relatives.

It was found that all the people involved are relatives, live in Merida and were returning from a trip to the port of Progreso on the beach, where the traffic also had an influence, along with the fatigue generated after an almost continuous day on the beach.

Police authorities undertook an operation at kilometer thirteen of this stretch to protect the vehicle and the integrity of the injured while they were being attended to by paramedics. It was even necessary to close one of the lanes.
