San Diego, California, March 28, 2023.- Following up on the gastronomic and tourism promotion agenda of the Valladolid Restaurant Association, a meeting was held with representatives of the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego, California, to explore a synergy with the Consulate General of Los Angeles to advance a joint plan aimed at positioning the cuisine of Valladolid in the United States.
The president of ARVAY, Jordy Abraham Martinez was received by the Consul for Tourism, Press and Media of the Consulate General in San Diego, Alberto Lozano, to whom he requested support to promote the Pearl of the Orient as a tourist destination, through the book “Valladolid: Gastronomic Capital of Yucatan”, soon to be published under the Larousse imprint.
The meeting between representatives of the Valladolid Restaurant Association and the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego focused on actions to disseminate the gastronomic book coordinated by Chef Ricardo Muñoz Zurita, as well as a rapprochement with companies in the culinary sector and tour operators in the Californian region.
As a precedent of this meeting, ARVAY’s board held in recent months a productive working meeting in the same sense with the Consul General of Mexico in Los Angeles, Marcela Celorio.

Regarding the scope of this international cooperation agreement, the president of ARVAY, Jordy Abraham stated: “With this type of alliances, we seek to transcend borders, taking Valladolid to new horizons. For this purpose, California is key due to the number of inhabitants as well as the connectivity with the Yucatan Peninsula”.
Regarding the work plan, Abraham Martinez emphasized: “There has been ample openness and disposition on the part of the Consulate General in San Diego and the Consulate General in Los Angeles. The commitment is to maintain fluid communication and to carry out specific actions that will bring us closer to the objective of positioning Valladolid”.
