

During the last 24 hours, the National Center for Disaster Prevention (CONAPRED), has registered 235 exhalations from the Popocatepetl volcano in the last 24 hours.
The agency points out that these exhalations were accompanied by water vapor, volcanic gases, and ash. In addition, a moderate explosion was registered this Saturday around 05:00 hours, and six more minor explosions, took place this Friday, March 24, between 18:05 hours and 08:14 this Saturday morning. The rest took place at 21:56, 23:02, and 23:57; and 07:11 on March 25.
In its report, CONAPRED also announced that 62 minutes of low amplitude and harmonic tremor and two volcano-tectonic earthquakes were recorded this Saturday at 04:13 and 04:16 hours, both with a magnitude of 1.4.}
Ash fall is reported in areas near Popocatepetl.
CONAPRED pointed out that this Friday a light ashfall was reported in San Nicolás de los Ranchos, near the Popocatépetl volcano in Puebla. Meanwhile, this March 25, the agency also received reports of ash in San Andres Cholula and Cuautlancingo, both places also within Puebla.
During the morning of this Saturday, a constant emission of water vapor and volcanic gases has been observed; the route followed by the column of exhalations goes in a northeasterly direction.
So far, the federal agency reports that the Popocatepetl’s Volcanic Alert Traffic Light is in yellow phase 2.
