In December 2023, when the Mayan Train will be inaugurated, hotels will also be built near the tracks in the states of Yucatan, Campeche, Quintana Roo and Chiapas.

This was informed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in his morning conference this Friday, held at Military Air Base No. 8 in Mérida.

Where will the hotels be located?

The 6 hotels will be located in:

  • Chichen Itza, Yucatan.
  • Uxmal, Yucatan
  • Tulum, Quintana Roo
  • Palenque, Chiapas
  • Edzná, Campeche
  • Calakmul, Campeche

HOTELS

The President informed that he is already working on the projects for the construction of the Maya Train hotels and added that they already have four of the six plots of land needed for these hotels, which he expects to be ready before December 2023, when he will inaugurate the Maya Train.

In order to supervise these projects, he said, he will make more tours throughout the south of the country, with fortnightly visits instead of every three weeks.

Therefore, all that land, the 2,400 hectares, he continued, will be converted into a natural reserve zone. It is a bit impacted, but, in any case, trees will be planted, and it will become a jungle.

It should be noted that these hotels will be operated by the Secretariat of National Defense.

During the morning meeting in Merida, AMLO pointed out that as part of the Mayan Train, 115 complementary works are being built in Yucatan, including viaducts, bridges, wildlife crossings, and vehicular crossings.

Also, four archeological zones in the state will be improved, there will be two new museums and the Merida-Cancun highway will be modernized, a total of 194 kilometers that correspond to the state of Yucatan.
