The meteorological phenomenon moves south of the coasts of El Salvador, but will cause rainfall in the Mexican Republic.

(Aristegui Noticias) According to the latest Conagua (Comisión Nacional de Agua) report, published at 7:15 a.m., it was 65 kilometers west of San Salvador, El Salvador, and 295 kilometers east-southeast of the mouth of the Suchiate River (Mexico-Guatemala border).

The meteorological phenomenon will cause torrential rains of 150 to 250 mm in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Tabasco, heavy rains of 75 to 150 mm in Campeche and Quintana Roo, as well as very heavy rains of 50 to 75 mm in Yucatán.

Wind gusts of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour (km/h) are also forecast in Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo; and swells of 2 to 4 meters in the Gulf of Tehuantepec and of 1 to 3 meters on the coasts of Veracruz.

The commission warned that this could cause an increase in the levels of rivers and streams, landslides, and floods. It also recommended extreme precautions and heed the recommendations issued by the National Civil Protection System.

The State Coordination of Civil Protection of Yucatán informed that at this moment it does not represent any risk for the state, while the agency in Quintana Roo detailed that it is being monitored for the effects of rain, wind, and waves in the state.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Studies and Forecasts Sub-Directorate of Veracruz (Subdirección de Estudios y Pronósticos Meteorológicos de Veracruz) emphasized that significant rains are expected in the south of the state. It also warned of the possibility of river-stream flooding, landslides, landslides, and urban flooding, especially between the Papaloapan and Tonalá river basins.

The Civil Protection of Tabasco issued a yellow precautionary alert for very heavy rains in the municipalities of Tenosique, Balancán, Centla, and Centro.

The agency in Chiapas stated that torrential rains with thunderstorms are expected in seven regions of the state, while in the rest of the state heavy to very heavy rains are forecast.

Therefore, it is recommended to avoid crossing rivers, streams, streets with slopes, or flooding areas.
