For the first time, the Kanasín City Hall is organizing the Cultural Week 2022 “Hanal Pixán”, featuring a wide range of activities that have been programmed to celebrate the Day of the Dead, events that will be totally free of charge for all attendees, informed Mayor Edwin Bojórquez Ramírez.

“The program of activities, which will be in tribute and to remember our loved ones who passed away, will run from Friday, October 28 to Sunday, November 6, and will also be an excellent opportunity to highlight and reinforce our traditions and customs that make our culture proud”, said the mayor.

Mayor Edwin Bojórquez informed that “the activities will be allusive to the faithful departed, which will also serve as a framework to represent our culture as Yucatecans, but especially as Kanasinenses, which can be observed during the exhibition of altars and the Paseo de las Ánimas.

“With these activities we seek to rescue and promote our traditions. Through the Department of Culture, the Kanasín City Hall for the first time in its history will offer numerous activities for all families to enjoy. We are not only thinking about people enjoying these days, but we also want the new generations to learn about the beauty of our traditions,” he said.

Kanasín Cultural Week 2022 officially kicks off on October 28 at 7:00 p.m. with an exhibition of school altars, as well as an exhibition of the Kanasín City Hall altar in the main park, where the attendees will be given pan de muerto (bread of the dead) and chocolate. Saúl Herrera “El Charro Enamorado” will also perform at the same place.

Activities scheduled for Saturday and Sunday

On October 29, at 6:00 p.m., the Trail of Terror, Biciruta and Walk are scheduled to take place on the Ciclovía, in front of the Municipal Police facilities at the entrance to the CROC.

On October 30 the play “Alegría y Muerte” will be presented by Ecos del Mayab in the basement of the Municipal Palace at 7:00 p.m., and at 10:00 a.m. there will be a motocross “Track Day” at the Garys track in front of Hacienda Teya.

Paseo de las Ánimas on Monday

On October 31, departing from “El Parquecito” at 7:00 p.m., the Paseo de las Ánimas y Vaquería is scheduled, in which a large number of Kanasinenses are expected to participate. The population is invited to attend this event in their costume.

Another activity that will be taking place is the Feria y Cine en tu Colonia which, for this holiday, children will be able to enjoy the movie “Coco” on November 1, 3, and 4 in downtown Kanasín, in the Hacienda Teya park, and in the San Antonio Tehuitz park, respectively. The movies will be shown at 6:00 p.m. at all three locations.

Closing: “Ochovario de Los Pixanes”.

The activities will end on November 6 with the “Ochovario de Los Pixanes”, as well as the presentation of dances and regional theater play at 7 p.m. on the first floor of the Municipal Palace.

“With all these events we seek to consolidate the social fabric in the municipality, turn Kanasín into a place that is attractive to visit for Yucatecans, and generate greater economic revenue for the benefit of local establishments,” he said.

Edwin Bojórquez also informed that the Kanasín Municipal Police will be on hand to provide security and protection to those who attend the various events during the festival.
