Man sentenced to 3 years in prison for house robbery in downtown Merida

After having the consent of the parties involved, an abbreviated trial procedure was held, where M.A.B.Ch. was declared criminally responsible for the crime of qualified robbery and sentenced to three years and four months in prison.

The sentence was given for the events that occurred in July 2019 on a property in the Centro neighborhood of this city of Mérida.

After the complaint was filed, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) integrated the investigation folder that was prosecuted under criminal case 39/2021, where it is established that the events occurred on July 22, 2019, when the accused entered a house on Calle 87 del Centro, where he seized various assets owned by the complainant, including a flat-screen TV, a computer, an electronic tablet and cash, among other objects.

During the hearing held at the Mérida Oral Justice Center, the First Control Judge declared the conviction and, in addition to sentencing the defendant to the aforementioned prison sentence, imposed a 66-day fine on him, sentenced him to receive a public reprimand, his political rights were suspended and he is also prohibited from approaching the victim and the scene for three more years after serving his sentence in prison.

Before concluding the criminal hearing, the judge waived the reading and explanation of the sentence, for which the indicated sentences remain the same.
