The Mérida City Council, through the Directorate of Public Services, is installing street traditional decorations, and representations allusive to the Mexican National Independence.
After two years of a pandemic when the city did not have the same lighting and decoration, this year, parks, public areas and representative spaces of the city will have a special decoration for the national celebration.
It is important to note that, in 2020, due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic, only some municipal buildings were illuminated with the colors of the flag, but the traditional patriotic decorations were not installed. In 2021, with the reactivation of activities that began precisely in the month of September, there was no street decoration that year either.
Mayor Renán Barrera Concha pointed out that the decoration of emblematic places in the city, on the occasion of the national holidays, in addition to enhancing the festivities of a very important event, is also a sign of the empathy that all Mexicans feel for their great nation.
