A man drowned this Tuesday afternoon when he went to cool off at an artificial watering-hole, located at Km. 23 of the Mérida-Tetiz federal highway.

The now-deceased identified as Pablo Canul Narváez, 32, was accompanied by several friends, including one of his brothers with whom he went to take a dip in this place that once served as a material bank for the construction of the Tetiz-Kinchil road.

However, Canul Narváez found his death after diving, as it should be noted that the water hole was too shallow and had huge rocks at the bottom, so the victim hit his head hard, allegedly fell unconscious, and then drowned.

However, the official cause of death will still be determined by the competent authorities.

After the accident, the support of an ambulance was immediately requested, but when the Red Cross paramedics arrived, they could only determine that the man from Hunucmá no longer had vital signs.

FGE personnel, as well as the Forensic Medical Service arrived on site, and the place was cordoned off by municipal police.

Four men were placed under the custody of Municipal authorities, they were not arrested, but their statement was taken to clarify the unfortunate event that occurred around 6:30 p.m. Rest in peace Pablo Canul.
