(MERIDA, YUC. – INEGI), January 21, 2022.- Yucatan was ranked among the four states with the lowest number of crimes committed during 2021, and ranked third with the lowest incidence per 100,000 inhabitants, revealed the Executive Secretariat of the System National Public Security (SNSP) of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob).
In the Mexican Republic, during the past year, two million 44 thousand 122 complaints of common law were registered, with an increase of 11 percent compared to 2020, when the sum was one million 841 thousand 188 complaints.
The largest number of cases was recorded in the State of Mexico, with 389,493 cases, 19 percent; in Mexico City, 223,680 criminal complaints were filed, 10.9 percent, and Guanajuato, with 134,626, 6.6 percent.

In Yucatan there is an increase of 1.76 percent, since from January to December 2020, there were 8,417 common law complaints filed in the public ministries established in the State.
Ironically, last May, the highest crime rate in 20 months was recorded in Yucatan, but in August the lowest crime rate of 2015 to date occurred, and now a new record is set.
Likewise, in May 2021, for the first time in 3.5 years, no intentional homicides were registered in the monthly criminal incidence, it was even the only state in the country with a white balance, a phenomenon that was repeated in November.
From 2015 to date, the maximum criminal incidence occurred in March 2017, with 3,290 cases and in August 2021 it was the lowest, with 380 complaints, unseating the figure for May 2020, with 387 files, and in December past there were 314 complaints.
