Progreso, Yucatán, (January 11, 2022).- After executing an arrest warrant in a coordinated manner between the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and agents of the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP ), L.A.R.P. and R.A.O.L. were charged with the crimes of attempted homicide and mistreatment against domestic animals, reported after the events that occurred in recent days in Progreso.
The litigation prosecutors began the integration of the investigation folder under criminal case 3/2022, where it was established that on January 6, in the Benito Juárez neighborhood of that municipality, the defendants arrived at a property on Calle 24th aboard a motorcycle and immediately carried out detonations with a firearm, which fatally injured a dog that was inside the property.
During the hearing held at the Progreso Oral Justice Center, the litigation prosecutors formulated the accusation of the crime and presented the evidence to request that the legal situation of the accused be resolved, who requested the duplication of the constitutional term to define their legal condition, by which the Control Judge established that the hearing will be resumed next Friday.
Before concluding the initial hearing, the litigation prosecutors presented the arguments to request the imposition of precautionary measures, for which the Control Judge established that the accused will have to remain in preventive detention for the entire duration of the process.
