Tulum Hotel Association re-elects leader for three more years

David Ortiz Mena will be president of the AHT for three more years, until 2025

Tulum, Quintana Roo – AHT, (January 17, 2022).- In a press release, the Tulum Hotel Association (AHT) reported that its general assembly was held last Friday, January 14th, where the majority of the 71 associates voted in favor of the re-election of David Ortiz Mena as its president for three more years, until 2025.

The event was held behind closed doors and the majority of hoteliers voted in favor of Ortiz Mena; meanwhile, the list headed by Verónica Genovali, who was seeking this position, was far behind in the votes and recognized the re-election of David Ortiz Mena.

The board of directors for the period 2022-2025 was made up of the following people: David Ortiz Mena for Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort; Alfredo Soto for the Ana y José hotel; Marco Soria, from Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa; Francesca Pesaresi for the María del Mar hotel; Armando Couto for Club Akumal Caribe; Morgan Levi, from the Coco Hacienda and Coco Village hotels; Álvaro Laviada for the Poc Na hotel; Benjamín Fernández for the Cabañas Tulum hotel, and Benigno Vergara for the Panamera hotel.

In the assembly, the reports of relevant activities for the year 2021 corresponding to the presidency, the legal area, the treasury and executive management of the outgoing administration of the AHT were presented, highlighting the organization of work tables between the hotel industry of the Riviera Maya and the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur).

The work that the AHT is carrying out with the current municipal administration for the creation of the trust that guarantees transparency in the adequate application of resources obtained with the new environmental sanitation right, and that during the previous municipal administration exemption was obtained corresponding payment for the last 10 months as there are no adequate mechanisms to collect and apply it properly and efficiently.

Ortiz Mena invited those who expressed their interest in being elected as candidates to occupy a certain position to actively participate in the execution of their work plan, as well as in the creation and management of commissions to meet the goals and objectives for the benefit of the hotel sector.
