(MERIDA, YUC. -TAG).- The Guatemalan airline TAG Airlines announced that it is preparing the start of two new routes. One that connects Mérida, Yucatán, with Guatemala City, and another from Oaxaca to the capital of the Central American country.

With this, there would already be five routes that connect Guatemala with our country, one year after the airline began its operations in Mexico.

Julio Gamero, director of TAG Airlines, met with Michelle Fridman, secretary of Yucatan Tourism Development, who reported that the new route to the Maya World will be available in the first quarter of this year, with four weekly frequencies.

“This year, TAG will continue to expand its operations in the south-southeast of Mexico, with the commitment to strengthen air connectivity in the Maya World, promoting the development of the aviation and tourism industry, which are important engines for economic growth,” said Gamero.

In 2021 TAG Airlines consolidated its international presence by starting operations in Mexico, with the Cancun-Guatemala, Cancun-Flores and Guatemala-Tapachula (Chiapas) routes, which currently report an occupancy rate of over 90 percent.

In addition, the airline announced that it is analyzing the possibility of making flights from Guatemala to Huatulco, Guerrero.

TAG Airlines currently operates 27 daily flights in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize and Mexico, with a fleet of more than 20 aircraft.
