MEXICO, (January 13, 2022).- “Countries like Mexico are the countries that are perpetuating the epidemic” of coronavirus, by going against scientific evidence, for not following public health recommendations, said Dr. Andreu Comas, Research Professor at the Center for Research in Health Sciences and Biomedicine of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí.
In an interview with Pascal Beltrán del Río for Imagen Radio, the member of the Mexican Consortium for Genomic Surveillance and virologist, epidemiologist, an expert in respiratory viruses, also highlighted that the lies of various federal and local officials have led the country to have more than 300 thousand children without either parent.
He pointed out that “unfortunately the lies of Claudia Sheinbaum, head of Government of Mexico City; of Oliva López, head of Health of the capital of the country; Hugo López-Gatell, Undersecretary of Health; Jorge Alcocer, Secretary of Health, and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador have led to 300 thousand children who are missing one or two parents, 700 thousand dead, the number one country for deaths in health personnel ”.
Andreu Comas wondered, “when will (the officials) understand that they are not right, when will they understand that they are going against scientific evidence, Public Health recommendations, world recommendations”.
MEASURES
The virology specialist also affirmed that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador again contracted covid-19 for not following health measures to avoid the disease, an attitude that he described as irresponsible.
He noted that “the President was simply infected by something very simple. Every day he is exposed to many, many people and he does not wear a mask ”. He indicated that from the moment he knew that the head of the Economy, Tatiana Clouthier, was positive, “he and all those who were with Secretary Clouthier, all should have isolated themselves, that’s where the irresponsibility begins,” he said.
He pointed out that the message that the President gave with his attitude when he went to the morning conference sick, “the population is following him, and that is why we have such a brutal infection rate that we are seeing and it is only the beginning,” emphasized the specialist.
