Karla Vega, secretary of the Chamber of Caterers and Suppliers of Yucatan (Cabapy), clarified that the events organized by the caterers cannot be classified as massive.
(MERIDA, YUC. – CABAPY).- The new restriction on massive events derived from the yellow traffic light in Yucatan has not led to the cancellation of social events. At best, some of them have been rescheduled, but none have been canceled, said Karla Vega, secretary of the Chamber of Caterers and Suppliers of Yucatan (Cabapy).
The business leader acknowledged that the new provision did have some impact on the sector, since it again generates uncertainty, not only in the Cabapy union, but also in customers: “Obviously, they are concerned about the situation that may give later”, he sentenced.
Most of the Cabapy members closed the year in a good way, as December was the “strong” month for their activity,” she added.
“Perhaps not in the way we expected, but it was a good guideline for many to find a little more stability and recover financially. It was a crucial month for those of us who dedicate ourselves to social matters”, she mentioned.
Karla Vega clarified that the events organized by the caterers cannot be classified as massive.
As for the expectations for this year, she commented that they will continue to respect the established regulations and hope that they can be maintained in the same way, especially with regard to the permitted capacity of 60 percent in open places and 40 percent in closed places.
Likewise, Karla Vega highlighted the importance of inviting clients to continue with the guidelines, since she recognized that sometimes it takes a bit of work to make them understand.
“We have to stay on the same line, taking care of all health aspects and regulations. We invite all the people who want to continue with their celebrations not to let their guard down, ” she added.
Finally, the businesswoman shared that the sector has good expectations for the month of March, in which a large number of weddings are usually organized; and also for May and June, with the organization of first communions and other simpler events.
