Mérida, Yucatán, (January 13, 2022).- The government of the State of Yucatan ordered a batch with 53,760 Moderna vaccines, from US laboratories, to inoculate more than 50,000 education workers.

Starting on Wednesday, January 12th, until next Saturday, Jan. 15th, the teachers and school personnel of public and private institutions will receive the booster vaccine in order to contribute to the good health of the Yucatecans and together build a safe return to school.

The doses arrived on the night of January 10 and will be administered for four days at the following venues: in Mérida, the Yucatán Siglo XXI Convention and Exhibition Center; in Valladolid, the campus of the Universidad Modelo; in Tizimín, the National Technological Institute; and in Ticul, the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Secondary School.

“Since Sunday and until now we have a record of more than 48,000 education workers who will receive the Moderna vaccine, which only requires a dose as a booster to build a safe return to school, as everyone’s responsibility,” said the secretary of education, Liborio Vidal Aguilar

He pointed out that all education workers who come to be vaccinated will have that justified workday. He added that the sector is made up of more than 50 thousand people, both from Segey, as well as from the Secretariat for Research, Innovation and Higher Education (Siies), the Autonomous University of Yucatán and private institutions.
