Mérida, Yucatán.- The representation of the National Guard in the State reported that in 2021 some clandestine intakes were detected in the pipelines that Petróleos Mexicanos has on the Mérida-Progreso highway, although due to surveillance actions, this federal crime managed to be contained throughout the year.
Francisco Díaz González, the general commissioner of the corporation, pointed out that the matter is being kept at bay, thanks to the work of the authorities of the three levels of government.
According to the security corporation’s report, during last year at least 3 clandestine outlets were detected in Pemex pipelines, which were secured and removed.
The clandestine outlets were found in sections near the Flamboyanes police station in the municipality of Progreso, where the gasoline pipelines cross.
It was reported that, as part of the actions, a vehicle and several materials that were presumably used for the extraction of the fuel were secured, although so far there is no report of any detainees.
“We do surveillance in all federal and state stations, as well as the contribution by Pemex security that it has established. We have to continue working with the Prosecutor’s Office to be able to continue carrying out this type of actions that allow them to decrease”, he pointed out.
