MÉRIDA, Yucatan, (January 17, 2022).- The director of Economic Development and Tourism of the Mérida City Council, José Luis Martínez Semerena, reported that given the increase in Covid-19 infections, health protocols will be reinforced so that everyone who wants to visit the City of Mérida, abide by the measures that will be made known through a massive campaign on social networks and companies.
“Everyone who comes to the City of Mérida will have to adhere to the rules established by the different establishments, the different institutions; so we will be carrying out a campaign to encourage people not to let their guard down, that we continue to reactivate ourselves, taking care of ourselves, which is the most important thing, and this includes the locals, but also those who visit us from other states or other countries. ”, he exposed.
“Through our Visit Mérida page, we are going to be promoting that all those who want to come to the city know what are the sanitary measures that we have. We will be talking with the presidents of the different business chambers so that together we can make the effort and they can inform their members and their establishments so that we can all take care of ourselves and protect ourselves.

I am very impressed by the way Merida and the residents of Merida are handling covid .We are here for five months. Almost everyone wears a mask and stores take your temperature and give you hand sanitizer before you are allowed to enter. I feel much safer walking around Merida than in my hometown in Canada. The only area of improvement I see is that people don’t keep their distance which can be difficult on crowded streets, and that restaurants don’t space out their tables, so people are seated next to strangers who are not wearing masks and speaking loudly within niches of your face. So, now I avoid crowded restaurants and shop early to avoid people. I know that sooner or later we will all get covid but let’s try to stay healthy as long as possible.
