At least 140 Aeromexico employees are infected with Omicron,
resulting in multiple cancellations.
CDMX (Aeromexico) – Aeromexico has canceled flights to destinations or departures from Cancun, Orlando, Tijuana, Houston, Guadalajara, Merida, and Montreal, to name a few. As a result, the airline had to make an “application of protocols involving adjustments to planned operations,” (SIC) according to the company.
An outbreak of Covid-19 among Aeromexico crew members led the airline to cancel dozens of flights on Friday, which annoyed users.
The airline indicated that the new wave of Covid-19 infections had impacted aviation worldwide, affecting some flights in an informative card.
For Aeromexico, as stated in their statement, the safety of its customers and employees is and will always be the top priority and therefore applied monitoring protocols to various employees, including crews, which has involved making adjustments to planned operations.
This, after the Mexican Airline Pilots Union Association (ASPA), 69 positive cases of Covid-19 were registered among Aeromexico’s crew members.
Due to the outbreak, the airline was forced to cancel between 20 and 40 flights, according to national media. Other airlines also canceled and postponed flights.
“We focused efforts on minimizing the impact and worked to best serve customers who have had modifications to their travel plans, to get them to their destination as safely and as quickly as possible.”
“The delay or cancellation of flights is not a decision we take lightly and is always the last resort,” Aeromexico pointed out, adding that it will continue, without exception, to apply the highest protocols in all operations through its Health and Hygiene Management System.
