Mérida, Yucatan, (December 30, 2021) .- The president of Canirac Yucatán, Roberto G. Cantón Barros, highlighted that during the weekend that just ended, the sales reported by the restaurant sector were good, in several cases better than expectations.
“We estimate that sales were up 40 percent from the previous weekend,” he said.
The leader commented that according to the results of the Christmas celebrations, the end of 2021 is expected to be positive for the gastronomic industry, which is being prepared with packages and promotions for the end of the year dinner.
“They have been very good days for the businesses in the industry, we have had good sales and a large influx in dining areas and a slight increase in home-delivery services. We hope next weekend will be as good or better, ” he said.
He pointed out that businessmen in the industry remain on their guard in terms of protocols and sanitary measures.
“This is not the time to lower our guard, we must be vigilant to avoid a return to the restriction measures since that would mean a severe blow to all the economic sectors of the state and an important call to society to double efforts to take care of ourselves”, he highlighted.
G. Cantón Barros commented that a better year is expected for the sector in 2022, “there is the confidence that we will be able to do great actions for the benefit of the sector, we are already working on the Mérida Restaurant Week program, which we will publicize widely in brief, as well as in other projection actions for the gastronomic industry ”.
He also assured that 2022 will be a very busy year for Canirac and the businessmen of the sector with whom they will be working in an intense and coordinated way to be able to increase consumption in restaurants through the celebration of special events and gastronomic promotion campaigns.
