Tribute to Yucatecan singer-songwriter Armando Manzanero on his first death anniversary

Mérida, Yucatán, (December 24, 2021).- The most emblematic hits of Armando Manzanero, a world-renowned Yucatecan artist, will be in the voices of local interpreters, in a concert that will be offered this Tuesday 28 to commemorate the singer-songwriter’s first death anniversary, part of the strategy of the Yucatan Government to remember those who have raised the state.

The direction of this meeting, which will frame the Palacio de la Música – National Center of Mexican Music, is in charge of Luis Pérez Sabido, while the arrangements and the conformation of the program were coordinated by Mario Esquivel, both cultural promoters, who enjoyed of a close friendship with the honoree, from the beginning of his career.

Invites the Secretariat of Culture and the Arts (Sedeculta) to this recital, which will begin at 20:00 hours; the entrance will be free, with ticket; the capacity, controlled and following all current health protocols, and at the ceremony, you will be able to admire the oil portrait of the most universal Yucatecan, a work donated by the painter Ermilo Torre Gamboa.

The evening will be hosted by Edgar Fernando Cruz, who for many years produced the radio programs of maestro Manzanero. The repertoire will open with “Amanecer”, “No se tú”, “Cosas como tú” and the notes of the pianist Mario Esquivel; in turn, Eduardo Vázquez will perform “Contigo aprendi”, “Somos novios” and “Esta tarde vi llover”.

Poetry will also be part of the appointment, as Pérez Sabido will share “Contigo aprendi”, “Parece que fue ayer” and “Yo se que volveras”; Maricarmen Pérez will put her stamp on “Llorando estoy”, “Yo te recuerdo” and “Como yo te ame”, and Alfredo Bolio will participate with “Te extraño”, “No” and “Señor Amor”.

Later, everyone will join together to sing “Adoro”, one of the most successful creations of the composer’s career, which was performed in more than five languages. In the accompaniment, there will be the guitarist Daniel Parra, the bassist Eduardo Parra, the drummer Manuel Canul, the percussionist Miguel Mañaná, the saxophonist Osmani Collado and the flutist Pepe Ballote.

Tickets are available for delivery from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the central building of the Sedeculta, 18 street number 204 between 23 and 25, García Ginerés neighborhood.
