Despite the pandemic, the mobilization of air visitors to Quintana Roo during November, reached 2.3 million travelers, double that of last year.
QUINTANA ROO, (December 13, 2021).- Airports and Auxiliary Services (ASA) revealed the statistics of the Chetumal International Airport (AIC) and reported 31,186 passengers, the best figure of the year and double what it had in the same period of 2020, a critical year due to the coronavirus.
The second best figure of the year that the capital’s air terminal has had was in the month of July , during the holiday period, in which families decided to travel to the center of the country and vice versa, mainly, although there is also a connection with Guadalajara.
Meanwhile, as of December 1st, the new Miami-Chetumal international route will attract foreign travelers from other countries in the world that interconnect with that airport in the United States.
Eloy Stalin Quintal Jiménez, president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) of Chetumal, considered that the reactivation of air connectivity activities in the south allows the local economy to generate income, mainly those related to services, such as tour operators, hotels, restaurants , transportation and even recreation.
“That there is more flow of travelers with the passing of the months, means that we are making progress in economic matters because visitors leave spills in local companies, that this positive trend continues for Chetumal and in general for the entire south”, said the leader business.
The increase in the flow of passengers is the same trend as in the other air terminals in the state. Airports of the Southeast (ASUR) announced that it registered 2,228,728 at the Cancun International Airport and 50,848 at the Cozumel International Airport.
Sanitary measures continue in the terminals such as healthy distance, the use of antibacterial gel and face mask, to prevent infections, especially in the presence of the new omicron variant.
