The first marriage between two women is celebrated in Querétaro

The civil union between people of the same sex came into force on November 12th, 2021.

Queretaro, Mexico, (December 15, 2021).- After the approval of equal marriage in the state of Querétaro, the first civil unions between people of the same sex began to be registered throughout the state and this week the first wedding between two women took place.

The Civil Registry of Tequisquiapan reported that the first equal marriage in the town took place in its offices, which is also the first lesbian civil union in the entire state.

On November 12, the reform of the Civil Code of the State of Querétaro came into force, which endorses that it defines marriage as an institution in which two people establish a legal bond and not an exclusive one between a man and a woman.

“Great precedent in terms of human rights, without forgetting that our municipality is a destination of romance. Congratulations to this Marriage ”, wrote the civil registry on its Facebook page.

The first week of December the first equal marriage was registered in the state of Queretaro, with the wedding between Dimitri and Sergio in the state capital.
