Mérida, Yucatán.- Through the Secretariat of Sustainable Development, the Government of Yucatán authorized the exploitation of a bank of stone material for the works of the Mayan train in its stage IV. The deposit of materials is located in the municipality of Tinum, Yucatan.
The Official Gazette informed that Compañía Hidroeléctrica la Yesca, S.A de C.V. was authorized to exploit and manage the stone bank located in the former San Francisco hacienda, in the municipality of Tinum, Yucatan. In an extension of land to be exploited of 582 thousand 372 square meters.
The document published in yesterday’s edition of the Official Gazette stated that the operations permitted on the property are the extraction of stone material, as well as a deposit for the disposal of materials from the dismantling, clearing, and demolition of infrastructure from the construction of section IV of the Mayan train.
The Secretary of Sustainable Development pointed out that Compañía Hidroeléctrica La Yesca, S.A de C.V., from Jalisco, is obliged to comply with all the environmental protection programs, as well as to comply with all that is indicated in the environmental impact statement.
The main delays in stage IV of the Mayan train, which runs from Izamal, Yucatan, to Cancun, Quintana Roo, are the daily archaeological findings on this section of the project.
Last month, in Izamal, archaeological crews discovered a pre-Hispanic canoe during the construction of the Mayan train, near Chichen Itza. The ancient canoe was found in a cenote cave near the great Maya ceremonial center.
