Quintana Roo, (December 06, 2021).- The implementation of new air routes to the Mexican Caribbean and therefore the increase in plane seats will allow for the first four months of 2022 to receive at least 6.1 million air tourists, which represents 70% of everything that arrived in 2020.

Despite the expectation of the new variant of the coronavirus, Andrés Aguilar Becerril, dispatch manager of the Ministry of Tourism, mentioned that the estimates of air capacity on average are 1.5 million per month, with a connection to 96 cities nationwide and worldwide.

Of the total connections, 47 are with the United States, 21 with Mexico, 14 with Europe, 11 with Latin America, and three with Canada , and there is still confidence to continue opening more routes, as well as increasing them.

In all of 2020, due to the pandemic, the arrival of eight million visitors was reported, however, by 2022 that figure would be reached in the first months, and with the projections of recovering the 15 million that arrived in Quintana Roo.

” In the case of Quintana Roo we have had a very rapid recovery in record time , and that this year the estimate will be to close the year with 12.5 million tourists, estimating that it would be in yellow, however, we see that even it could be bigger”.

Andrés Aguilar Becerril, dispatch manager of the Ministry of Tourism

Quintana Roo is currently at the epidemiological green traffic light, a scenario that allows hotel occupancy of up to 100%, however, for the official, health security measures must be maintained that will allow progress in the economy to continue.

He insisted that for now, the Ómicron variant does not represent an alert for the Mexican Caribbean, in addition to the fact that the plane seat offers are already consolidated.

In the south of the state, just this week the Chetumal-Miami flight was inaugurated. Yesterday the authorities confirmed that Aerolineas Argentinas restarts its operations between Buenos Aires and Cancun, while Austrian Airlines will increase its flights from Austria this December and in January it will do the same from Vienna.
