In January 2022, a new IMSS clinic will open in Fraccionamiento Los Héroes

MÉRIDA, Yucatan, (December 18, 2021).- The year 2022 begins with an IMSS clinic in the Los Héroes subdivision. It will be exactly on January 3rd, when the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) number 61 will begin to operate in that area, just a few meters away from Mérida’s Periférico.

This was announced by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal and the director of the Mexican Social Security Institute, Zoé Robledo Aburto, during his work tour of Yucatán.

Both officials made a supervision visit to this new clinic called “Heroes de la Salud”, which is the only one in the entire state that has a physical rehabilitation module, which will contribute to providing care at the Regional General Hospital “Lic. . Ignacio García Téllez “, better known as T1, as it is the only IMSS hospital with this option in the Yucatan.

Services at the IMSS clinic in ‘Los Héroes’

The physical rehabilitation area is equipped with thermotherapy modules or hot compresses, as well as a mechanotherapy area, which includes equipment for cervical traction, gym, and electrotherapy, with different therapeutic modalities.

Other services to be provided are outpatient consultation and rehabilitation, with first-level care and a preventive approach. 

It will also be able to attend diseases of joint and rheumatological origin, mainly, in addition to accidents that have mild to moderate sequelae.

The rehabilitation module has special equipment, which applies laser technology, ultrasound, and different modalities of interferential currents, all of high-end, last-generation technology. 

With this, this unit will alleviate the workload that other hospitals have, such as Regional number 1.

Hundreds of inquiries a day

The director of the venue, Wladimiro Rodríguez Pinkus, explained that this new space was created to serve more than 86 thousand beneficiaries, and will be able to provide up to 772 consultations per day.

This new space has 14 family medicine offices, 7 specialist nurses, ultrasound cubicle, health, Sterilization, and Equipment Central (CEyE), and Continuous Medical Care, with first contact services, rehydration, and thermal control, observation of adults and minors, healing cubicle, and procedure room. 

Also, a site destined for rehabilitation, which provides hand therapy, electrotherapy, cervical traction, compresses, paraffin and mechanotherapy, and diagnostic aids, with areas of PACS, interpretation and shooting, X-rays, control, and dressing rooms.

The health team is made up of 7 nurses specializing in family medicine, with the important task of making timely detections of diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cervical or breast cancer, and with the ability that, in a visit, it is possible to know if the patient has high cholesterol or could be a carrier of HIV, hepatitis or syphilis. 

Likewise, there are nutritionists, epidemiologists, social workers, and medical assistants.
