Mérida, Yucatan, (December 30, 2021).- The governor of the State Mauricio Vila has talked on several occasions about the arrival of the Ómicron variant in Yucatán, as has happened in the rest of the world, and this December 29 the state government announced the first suspected case.

It was the Ministry of Health who sent the sample of a young patient to the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference.

The young man presented his complete vaccination schedule, and it will be until next week that the results of the analysis are released.

“This is a 35-year-old man, with a complete vaccination scheme, a resident of the Yucatecan capital with a history of travel to Mexico City and began with mild symptoms and currently remains in isolation at home,” says the secretary of health.

According to what was reported by the state agency, this new variant has a higher transmission of spot, however, there are still many doubts about this new strain.

For their part, the state governor and the Ministry of Health has sent an appeal to citizens to avoid large social gatherings on the occasion of the end of the year and put the economic reactivation at risk.
