1.5 million pesos were stolen from a pawnshop in Playa del Carmen

MÉRIDA, Yucatán, (December 16, 2021).- Armed subjects carry out a millionaire robbery at the “Tío Rico” pawnshop, in the municipality of Solidaridad, after the arrival of the municipal police, they failed to catch the assailants after a search operation. 

It was approximately 1:20 p.m. when through the 911 emergency number they reported an armed robbery at the aforementioned premises, dedicated to the appraisal and loan of cash to its customers, located on Palmas 1 boulevard, on the corner with Gansos street, Las Palmas neighborhood.

Agents of the Ministry of Public Security met with the workers of the Tío Rico pawnshop, who indicated that armed individuals entered the premises and taken around one and a half million pesos in jewelry.

After threatening the personnel and stealing the millionaire loot, the assailants escaped, while the local police implemented an operation across the nearby streets. 

Agents of the Investigative Police of the State Attorney General’s Office came to the scene to learn of the facts and start the first investigations.
