New Carnival Panorama cruises to Mexico feature water park, top-notch dining and more

The first brand new Carnival cruise ship to debut on the West Coast in 20 years, the Carnival Panorama was christened in Long Beach on Dec. 11 by Godmother Vanna White.

The Panorama is the third ship in Carnival’s 135,000-gross ton, 4,008-guest Vista Class, joining the nearly identical Carnival Vista of 2016 and the Carnival Horizon of 2018.

Like its sister ships, the Panorama boasts a WaterWorks water park with several slides and a giant dunker, the “bike in the sky” Sky Ride attraction, a ropes course, the vast Cloud 9 Spa, an expansive buffet dining complex, a three-deck atrium with a Dreamscape (a funnel-shaped LED centerpiece that changes themes and colors), a fully encircling exterior promenade (that provides a walkway and al fresco seating for numerous venues), two main dining rooms and a double-deck showroom.

Vista Class specialty dining venues include the Bonsai Teppanyaki and Sushi, the Italian-themed Cucina del Capitano, the Ji Ji Asian Kitchen, the Fahrenheit 555 steakhouse and the Guy Fieri-affiliated Pig and Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse that specializes in barbecued entrees and craft beers that are actually brewed on board.

The ship’s exclusive new features include an indoor trampoline park called Skyzone (in lieu of the 3D cinemas of the Vista and Horizon), Carnival Kitchen (a new cooking studio where guests can take classes hosted by the ship’s chefs) and the military-themed Heroes Tribute Bar (which replaces the Sky sports bar).

Standard accommodations range from economical Interiors and Ocean Views to Balcony staterooms, Junior Suites and Grand Suites with separate bedrooms.  The Panorama also has Family Harbor staterooms with access to a special lounge and brightly colored Havana class staterooms that are in close proximity to the Havana Lounge and pool area.

Carnival Panorama will spend its maiden season offering seven-night cruises to Mexico from Long Beach.
