“Yucatan has extraordinary competitive advantages, and its wide business offer makes it the ideal place to invest”, declared Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal before members of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra).
During a meeting of the Board of Directors of this Chamber, Vila Dosal outlined the benefits and advantages offered by the state for the arrival of new investments, which has earned the Yucatan an important reputation to attract more and more economic resources that trigger the economic growth, and provides a better quality of life for the people of our beloved state.
Accompanied by Enoch Castellanos Férez, president of Canacintra, and the head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Labor (Sefoet), Ernesto Herrera Novelo, the Governor said that the state has a very positive dynamic for investment in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, food and textile sectors; as well as in agribusiness; Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs); construction, infrastructure, Real Estate and Tourism.
After presenting the financial panorama of Yucatan, Vila Dosal said that, since the first day of his Government, an intense promotion of the competitive advantages of the state has been carried out nationwide and abroad , in order to generate better job opportunities for all Yucatecans and to detonate economic growth throughout the state.
“In Yucatan we open the door to all those who want to invest and I reiterate my willingness, as Governor, to sit down and talk with everyone who sees a possibility of investment, because only generating development and jobs is how we can grow,” said the Governor before the leader of the Canacintra Yucatan delegation, Alberto Abraham Xacur.
In that sense, Vila Dosal stressed that it is the private initiative that creates jobs, so it is up to the Government to provide the corresponding facilities to open new businesses and improve the quality of life of the Yucatecans.
Within that framework, the Governor indicated that Yucatán has a great technological ecosystem and well-prepared and talented human capital, which is complemented by other factors such as quality of life, connectivity by air, sea and land, an strategic location, infrastructure, as most of all, high safety rates.
Also, Vila Dosal said that the manufacturing sector growth in Yucatan in the last 4 years was 30.6%, the highest average in the country, while the national average was only 7.7% . In terms of jobs, 8,579 new jobs were generated during the first semester, which represented an increase of 32%, which contrasts with the 39% decrease throughout the country.
Similarly, the Governor indicated that there was a 102% increase in foreign direct investment (FDI), moving from 30th to 6th nationally and exceeding only in the first quarter, what was recorded during 2018.
Referring to the achievements in tourism, Vila Dosal stressed that the state is also living a very encouraging time on this issue, since July has been the best month in the history of the International Airport of Merida, as it has received 256 thousand passengers, In addition to the start of operations of 6 new air routes to León, Villahermosa, Chihuahua, Hermosillo, Oaxaca and Tijuana.
On the other hand, the Governor said that there was a 15.4% increase in the arrival of overnight visitors during January to September, compared to the same period of the previous year, and it is expected to close the year with 142 cruise ships and 465 thousand passengers, a 5% increase expectation compared to 2018.
After his presentation, Vila Dosal thanked the interest in Yucatan shown by the businessmen affiliated with the Canacintra and invited them to visit the state, check the benefits offered and get to know the many areas of opportunity for investment in Southeast Mexico.
