Due to the winds and high tides generated by Cold Front 8, the beaches of Telchac Puerto, in the east coast of Yucatan, started the week with large amounts of sargassum, just as it happened months ago in the tourist pole of Cancun, Quintana Roo.
In social networks, Lucía Martínez Espinosa’s video revealed how bad weather turned the water brown due to the large amounts of the algae along miles of the Yucatecan coast.
The locals have indicated that the quantity of sargassum increases year after year. Also, the footage shows how the sea is extremely choppy due to bad weather, high tide and with a lot of sargassum, as it could be seen months ago on the shores of Quintana Roo.
Residents of Telchac Puerto attributed this situation to global warming.
Despite the conditions in Telchac, where only a few seagulls flew over the beaches full of sargassum, many users saw the positive side of the situation, as they indicated that despite everything, it is just a matter of time to recover the beaches natural beauty, because they understand that this is a cycle of nature.
