Yucalpetén, Yucatán, October 23rd.- For the first time in 50 years, the port of Yucalpetén will undergo an intervention through a modernization, remodeling and rehabilitation project.
An investment of 73.7 million pesos will be made for the construction of 3 docks that will allow 120 fishing vessels to have shelter in this port.
Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal inaugurated the remodeling works in a brief ceremony earlier this week.
The project also includes the dredging of the navigation channel, which will allow more than 550 medium-sized fishing fleet vessels and another 5,000 boats from 25 different tourist marinas, to enter the harbor of shelter to be safely guarded.
On the improvement works in the navigation channel in Yucalpetén, the governor of Yucatán stated that these works will benefit fishermen and 5,000 tourist recreational boats at the same time.
“The ports of the municipality of Progreso (including Yucalpetén, of course), have a great potential to become key elements for the attraction of tourism and international trade to our state”, concluded Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal.
