“Camino de las Flores” a fantastic tapestry of natural flowers in the heart of Mérida

The Camino de Flores is a corridor that runs between the La Paz park and the former Juarez Penitentiary, becoming a temporary tourist attraction that fills this area with colorful patterns in a fantastic tapestry of natural flowers.

It is also a recreational, educational and family living space in which locals and visitors can enjoy and learn about natural wealth, different types of endemic flowers, and above all, it is an initiative that raises awareness for the care of the environment.

Visitors can walk the “Camino de las Flores” from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m (From October 25th, through November 2nd). In addition, for the safety of the elderly and disabled people, the City Council installe a special wheelchair ramp.

Camino de Flores includes more than 100,000 plants of different sizes and varieties.

This edition’s theme is: “flora and fauna of the region”, featuring sculptures of jaguar heads, turkeys, deer and a snake (made with flowers).

In addition, a multimedia videomapping show will be screened on the walls of the building of the Ex – Penitentiary on the evenings.
