4 Tips For Those Heading to Osaka, Japan
Want to make the most out of your trip? Here are a few things that you might want to consider:
- Visit Osaka Castle
Osaka Castle is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the city. A historical landmark, it has been destroyed and reconstructed several times since its construction in 1583.
Situated inside a park, the castle is known for its beautiful gold decoration, including a golden carp on the roof!
The easiest way to get there is to take the Osaka Loop Line to Osakajo Kouen Station. From there, it’s about an 18-minute walk to the castle.
- Stay in an Urban Hub
Looking for an Osaka hotel? Consider staying in one of the main urban hubs for the best experience.
For instance, you might want to look into the Minami, Kita, and Honmachi areas. You’ll save both time and energy by staying somewhere central.
If possible, look for a place that’s near the Midosuji subway line—it gets you almost everywhere!
- Get an IC Card
Trains and subways are the best way to get around Osaka. If you’re going to be there for a few days, consider getting an IC Card—that way, you won’t have to calculate your fare every time you’re at the station!
Basically, how it works is that it’s a prepaid card. All you have to do is tap it on a reader when you’re entering or exiting the station. The fare will automatically be deducted from your balance.
- Get a Pocket WiFi
Chances are, you’ll be using the internet a lot. For one thing, you’ll probably be looking up train routes constantly! Considering that, you might want to get yourself a pocket wifi. Sure, you can always get a prepaid data SIM card, but those usually come with daily limits. Another reason why they’re great is that you can split the cost with your traveling partners!
