The remodeling and expansion of the Yucatan Siglo XXI Convention and Exhibition Center are progressing according to schedule. This work will help position Mérida in the select group of cities capable of hosting important national and international conventions and mass events.
As Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal announced during the start of the work in July, the exhibition area of this space will be expanded from 13,000 to 23,000 square meters, positioning Mérida as a reference at national level in the sector of meetings, congresses and conventions tourism.
The remodeling also includes the redesign of the southern façade of the XXI Century Convention Center, inspired by the Uxmal Governor’s Palace, as well as the creation of corridors and common areas featuring natural and artificial light, for the benefit of both attendees as of passersby.
With these actions, the state will have a wider, modern and higher quality space, at the level of cities such as CDMX, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Acapulco, Guanajuato, Chihuahua and Puebla.
In this way, Yucatan is getting ready to host the Tianguis Turístico 2020, a great event in the sector, which will not only host more than 45,000 business meetings and the attendance of more than 1,750 national and international participants, but will also show all the attractions that the state has to offer to the most importnt representatives of national and world tourism, and giving great boost to the local tourism industry.
