Héctor Navarrete Muñoz, regional director of Asur, reported that July 2019 has been the best month in the history of the Aeropuerto Internacional Manuel Crescencio Rejón (Mérida International Airport), with the highest number of passengers: 257,515 registered travelers.

“We are talking about the best month in more than 50 years since this airport started operations. And now we are preparing to receive the Nobel prizes that will come to Yucatan in two weeks”, besides we have a “puente” (long weekend) coming, and we expect thousands of national tourists duringe those days, he added.

Navarrete Muñoz explained that the airport will increase security measures on the occasion of the World Summit of the Nobel Peace Prizes.

“We are also preparing to receive a convention of women leaders, and a Eucharistic congress of great national importance. These Eucharistic congresses bring a lot of Catholic people and dignitaries from the church”, he added.

“So, we are expecting to end the month of September with good figures, and we look forward to having a very busy October, with many passengers visiting Yucatán during the month, and then again, thousands of national and foreign travelers will be visiting Mérida for the “Hanal Pixán” (Day of the Dead) festivities at the end of October”, the regional director of Asur concluded.
