At the end of a two-day tour of rural hospitals in Yucatan, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal endorsed the willingness to continue collaborating with the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to strengthen the state’s health system, which guarantees better medical care, availability of free medicines as well as more and better infrastructure for the people of Yucatan.
After touring four rural hospitals, the Governor insisted in his request of Federal support to complete works such as the Ticul and Tekax hospitals, with greater equipment and specialized personnel.
I thank President Lopez Obrador because he has understood the situation and solutions will be provided for the people of Yucatan. The Governor recalled that, with an investment of almost 15 million pesos, a tomograph was delivered two months ago to the Valladolid hospital, which already works to provide services to the inhabitants of the eastern part of the State, who no longer have to travel to Merida to undergo this type of study.
In his message, Vila Dosal pointed out that public health has been one of the priorities for his administration, focused on guaranteeing medical care and free medicines. He mentioned the “Home Doctor” (Médico a Domicilio) program, which operates in 60 municipalities and is expected to cover the entire state territory in less than a year.
At the same time, the Governor stressed that, through the 24/7 Medical scheme, complementary care is provided while the municipal health centers are not on working hours. The service is now present in 25 municipalities and in the coming weeks it will start operating in another 25, so that next year there will be at least one office of this program in each one of the 106 municipalities in the state of Yucatan.
Vila Dosal added that, so far this year, 70 million pesos have been invested for the rehabilitation and maintenance of 29 medical units, and another similar amount will be used to attend 31 Health Centers. He also stated that since the beginning of his administration, 150 medical transfer vehicles have been delivered so that all municipalities have transport vehicles to take patients to their doctor’s appointments in Mérida for free.

Meanwhile, president López Obrador declared that with a budget of 40 billion pesos, health services, including those in Yucatan, will be sought so that there is no longer a lack of medicines, and to improve the infrastructure of health centers and hospitals, in addition to providing them with better equipment and at the same time guarantee a steady job for health workers.
Finally, the director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Alejandro Robledo Aburto, also recognized the actions promoted by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal in the health sector, and then announced a 15 percent salary increase to medical specialists and second level hospital workers in the whole country.
