Tuesday, September 24th.- The arrival of the Carnival “Dream” cruise ship to the port of Progreso was not very productive due to a combination of factors such as weather, sargassum and remodeling works on the “Malecón”, which eventually scared off the cruise passengers.

The tourist boat, of the Carnival cruise line, arrived on Tuesday September 24th, with a good number of foreign tourists, who after descending went to the beach to enjoy their stay on land, however, the weather conditions were not favorable, the morning was cloudy and it rained a little bit too.

In spite of the cloudy day, a good number of travelers decided to spend their day in Progreso, but when they reached the Malecon’s boardwalk, they ran into the remodeling of the place, and found a strong presence of sargassum on the beach, which eventually scared them away.

Business owners and restauranteurs expect that during this remodeling work, this type of situation will occur and their sales will be well below average.
