Mexican “abuelitas” win 65+ international basketball tournament in Finland

A group of Mexican grandmothers have made Mexico proud as they win an international basketball tournament in Europe.

In this World Cup tournament that was held in the city of Espoo, Finland, the 65+ year-old Mexican Women’s National Team was proclaimed champion.

In this competition, around 260 teams from 41 different countries participated in different age categories, in which the Mexican “abuelitas” took the first place in the 65+ category.

The group consisting of 10 players represented the state of Chihuahua, and for this particular tournament, they competed representing Mexico.

This is an outstanding triumph, achieved by a group of Mexican citizens who traveled across the Atlantic with their own economic resources, to represent Mexico in an international sports competition, thousands of miles away from their homeland.
