Change of Command at Chetumal´s XI Naval Zone

CHETUMAL, August 6 .- Quintana Roo’s Governor Carlos Joaquín González attended on Tuesday Aug. 6, the official change of command of the XI Naval Zone, based in Chetumal, an event in which the Vice Admiral General Corps of Staff Eduardo Rojas Pineda took protest as the new Chief Commanding Officer, replacing Vice Admiral General Corps Diploma of Staff Eduviges José Martínez Sandoval.

Rojas Pineda took the oath to assume his new mission before the Admiral CG DEM José Luis Vergara Ibarra, commander of the V Naval Region. After the honors to the position of Vice Admiral Eduardo Rojas Pineda, and in the presence of state, civil, military and naval authorities, the governor witnessed the solemn act carried out at the naval facilities of the Chetumal Marine Corps Battalion headquarters.

Governor Carlos Joaquin said that in coordination with Vice Admiral Eduardo Rojas Pineda, his administration will continue working to recover the peace in Quintana Roo, and also in dealing with the excessive amount of sargassum arriving to the state’s coast.

“These are important changes for the Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico (SEMAR) and also for the state government, in this coordinated operation that we have implemented in terms of security, but also in social and prevention issues, for the benefit of the entire society of Quintana Roo” the governor concluded.
