Yucatan has become the first Mexican state where the children of state police officers have access to 100% scholarships in private universities statewide.

They will also have a bimonthly support of $ 2,600 pesos, declared  Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, in the signing of commitment letters: “Scholarships to children of Police Officers” on Thursday July 18, 2019.

“This is a very significant day, and very important for the more than 4,500 agents of the Ministry of Public Security, that work hard every day to keep Yucatan as the most safe state in the country. And now these officers know they can count on university tuition for the education of their children, even in private colleges, “said the head of the Public security Secretariat, Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda.

Miguel Pérez Gómez, rector of the Anahuac Mayab University, on behalf of the 78 universities where the sons and daughters of police officers will be able to choose to study, said that these scholarships are a fair recognition and a sign of gratitude to the police officers of the Yucatan; who keep the State safe, which is not the case in many other parts of the country.

“To those who take care and seek the safety of people they do not even know personally,” Pérez Gómez said.

With this benefit, the police officers of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) can now offer better opportunities to their families, since some of their children are forced to give up their dreams of studying a professional career, because their parents do not earn enough money to pay for their college tuition and other expenses involved in higher education.
