The president of the National Chamber of Autotransport of Cargo (Canacar), Enrique González Muñoz stated that the American company Walmart will istall a distribution center in Kanasín Yucatán, to supply the Central American market.
“The Walmart distribution center is being built here in Kanasín and will bring goods from Central Mexico, to be exported to all of Central America, and Caribbean countries like Puerto Rico, departing out of Puerto Progreso. All of these countries have a high consumption of diverse”Made in Mexico” items, “said the businessman.
González also stated that for Yucatan it is necessary to invest in a logistics park that serves as a source of development.
“We need an industrial logistics park that is operative for cargo transport companies, that has spaces for training facilities, customer attention, Federal Police officers, tertiary medical services for drivers, and resting areas, because today the driving hours NOM-027 regulation requires truck drivers to rest for a certain number of hours, “explained the leader of the Canacar.
On the other hand, the State Secretary of Economic Development, Ernesto Herrera Novelo explained that the inauguration of this center will take at the end of this year, and that the construction work has an advance of 65 percent.
“The first stage is very advanced, practically 20 hectares are ready for the dry area and the refrigerated part will begin to be built once this stage is completed,” Herrera Novelo told Mexico City based newspaper El Financiero.
