If you’re visiting Rome, but only visiting for a couple of days, here are the top 5 places to visit in Rome which are totally worth your time!

Summertime is here to stay for the next three months. And if you haven’t made any plans to enjoy it, now’s the time to schedule a vacation.

91 million tourists visited Italy last year. So, if you’re thinking of leaving the country, they’re awesome places to visit in Rome.

Consider the “Eternal City” has close to 300 fountains and 900 churches. That’s outside of all the historic monuments and road network. Don’t think about leaving the kids at home.

They’re places and activities for them to do that’ll blow their minds. They’ll be the envy on the playground this school year.

If you plan to visit Rome, but only visiting for a couple of days, read this. Here are the top five places to visit in Rome which are totally worth your time!

  1. The Colosseum

Explore the Colosseum. This is Rome’s most historic emblem. Though it’s classified as an amphitheater, this historic site sits 50,000 plus spectators.

The Colosseum is where gladiators chose to mount up and battle it out. Locals share stories of the fights and bloody battles between men and beasts. Make plans to get there early.

The wait’s long but worth the experience.

  1. Vatican City

You can see the President, but visiting the home city of the Pope is once in a lifetime. The Apostolic Palace, located in Vatican City, is home to the world’s most prominent figure.

You may know it from the history books as The Sistine Chapel. Don’t miss out on experiencing it during the visit.

Also, take in the Vatican Museum and St. Peter’s Basilica. A close up look at the double helix stairwell may blow your mind.

  1. Cacio e PePe

Face it. Food makes the vacation. To eat the best Rome has to offer, indulge in it at Cacio e Pepe.

Cacio e Pepe serves up big portions for small prices. All of the food has an authentic, local flavor. The ambiance is to brag about as well.

It’s like eating at a 5-Star restaurant for three-quarters of the expense. Stop in and enjoy some of Rome’s best cheese, pasta, and wine.

  1. The Trevi Fountain

If you ever plan to visit Rome more than once, throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain. At least that’s what urban legend says.

This gorgeous site has beautifully crafted baroque statues that’ll have you staring in awe. Foreigners often stop for a sit to enjoy the peace the Trevi evokes.

  1. Rome’s Churches

The best view of the city of Rome is from a church. And if you have an interest in all things religious, Rome has a plethora of them.

Referred to as basilicas, churches in Rome are important tourist sites. While you’re there, visit the top four largest:

  • The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore – Erected for the Virgin Mary
  • The Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano – the Cathedral of Rome
  • The St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City
  • The Basilica di San Paolo Fuori le Mura – home to St. Paul’s tomb.

There are some other honorable mentions. But you’ll have to go to experience them for yourself.
