Nine people were rescued from a boat that was left adrift due to lack of fuel during their trip to Isla Mujeres, in Quintana Roo.
The Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico (Semar), reported that members of their rescue team managed to identify the yacht called “Patos”, which came from Florida, in the United States.
The boat ran out of fuel 12 nautical miles, 22.22 kilometers, from Isla Contoy.
An MLB-type vessel sailed out of the Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR) in Isla Mujeres to search for the stranded craft. They located the yacht and towed it to the dock in the island.
The crew members were received by Mexican Naval Health personnel, who performed a medical examination, finding them in good health, so they they were able to leave the premises by their own means.
