The Sargasso Cancun Monitoring Network reported on Monday July 22, that the macroalgae arrived in large numbers in 33 coastal tourist areas of the state.
According to data from the sargassum distribution and abundance map, the 33 destinations are: Cancun Coral Beach, Riviera Cancun, Moon Palace, Royalton Riviera, Petempich Bay, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen Founders, Playacar, Punta Venado, Paamul , Puerto Aventuras, Barceló Maya, Xpu-Ha.
In addition, Kantenah, Akumal, Bahia Principe, Chemuyil, Xcacel-Xcacelito, Punta Soliman, Tankah, Tulum Ruins, Punta Piedra, Tulum, Arco Maya, Punta Molas, Xhanan Beach, Playa Bonita, Mezcalitos Beach, Punta Morena, Chen Rio Beach, San Martin Beach, Bush Beach and Punta Celarain.
Meanwhile, the presence of abundant sargassum can be found in Cancun Playa Delfines and Punta Nizuc, also in Punta Brava, Playa del Secreto, Valentín, Vidanta, Playa Paraíso, Punta Maroma, Punta Bete, Xcalacoco, Punta Esmeralda and Mamitas Beach.
In Punta Sam, Playa del Niño, Puerto Juarez, Cancun Marlin Beach and Ballenas Beach, the amount of macroalgae is considered moderate.

While the destinations of Punta Mosquito, Holbox Centro, Punta Cocos, Chiquilá, Isla Contoy, Isla Blanca, Costa Mujeres, Playa Mujeres, Isla Mujeres Playa Norte, Playa del Faro, Punta sur, Puerto Cancun, Cancun Playa Las Perlas, Langosta Beach and Tortugas Beach, Cancun Caracol Beach, Punta Cancun, Gaviota Azul Beach, Chac-Mool Beach register low amounts of sargasso, according to the Sargasso Cancun Monitoring Network.
Sargassum is also scarce in: Passion Island, North Cozumel, Cozumel Pier, Chankanaab Beach, Mia Beach, San Francisco Beach, Palancar Beach, El Cielo and Punta Sur.
